Meta Tag Generator
Generate SEO and social meta tags — title, description, Open Graph and Twitter cards.
How to use
- Enter your page title, description and URL.
- Optionally add a social share image URL.
- Copy the generated tags into your page's head.
How the Meta Tag Generator works
Builds the title, description, Open Graph and Twitter Card tags a page needs to look right in search results and when shared on social platforms.
It assembles the standard set: the title and meta description for search, og: properties for Facebook, LinkedIn and most chat apps, and twitter: names for X. Open Graph is the widest-supported convention.
<title> ≤ ~60 chars · <meta name="description"> ≤ ~160 chars · og:image 1200×630
Worked example
A page titled 'Free Online Tools' with a 150-character description produces about a dozen tags to paste into your <head>.
Things worth knowing
- Google frequently rewrites titles and descriptions when it judges its own version more relevant to the query. A good description still raises click-through.
- og:image should be 1200×630 for a large card. Missing image dimensions cause some platforms to skip the preview entirely.
- Every page needs its own title and description. Duplicates across a site are a real ranking problem.
Frequently asked questions
What are Open Graph tags?
They control how your link looks when shared on social media — the title, description and preview image.
Do I need all of these?
Title and description are essential; Open Graph and Twitter tags make shared links look far better.
Do meta keywords still matter?
No. Google has ignored the keywords tag for well over a decade.
Why does my link preview not update?
Platforms cache aggressively. Use Facebook's Sharing Debugger or X's card validator to force a re-fetch.
