QR Code Generator
Turn any link or text into a QR code — generated privately in your browser.
How to use
- Type or paste a link or any text.
- The QR code updates instantly.
- Right-click the code to save it, then print or share.
How the QR Code Generator works
Turns a URL, text, phone number or Wi-Fi credential into a scannable QR code you can download and print.
The data is encoded into a matrix of modules with Reed-Solomon error correction added, so the code still scans when partly obscured. Higher error correction means a denser code for the same content.
error correction levels: L ≈7% · M ≈15% · Q ≈25% · H ≈30% recoverable
Worked example
A short URL like https://tools.maib.io encodes into a compact grid that scans instantly; a 300-character block produces a much denser one.
Things worth knowing
- Shorter content produces a simpler, more reliably scannable code. Shorten long URLs before encoding.
- Keep the quiet zone — the blank margin — around the code. Cropping it tight is the most common reason a printed code fails to scan.
- Use level H if the code will be printed on packaging, curved surfaces or anywhere it may be scuffed.
- Generation happens in your browser, so the encoded content is never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Do these QR codes expire?
No — the code encodes your text directly, so it works forever and needs no account.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No, the QR code is generated entirely in your browser.
What size should I print it?
A rough guide is a tenth of the scanning distance: about 3 cm for 30 cm, and much larger for posters read from across a room.
