Time Zone Converter
Convert a time from one time zone to another across the world's major cities.
How to use
- Enter a time.
- Choose the time zone it's in (From).
- Choose the zone to convert to (To) — the result updates instantly.
How the Time Zone Converter works
Converts a time between zones, so scheduling across regions does not depend on mental arithmetic with daylight saving.
Times are converted through UTC: the source time is shifted to UTC by its offset, then shifted again into the target zone's offset, with daylight saving applied where it is in force.
target = source − source UTC offset + target UTC offset
Worked example
9:00 AM in New York (UTC−5) is 2:00 PM in London (UTC+0) and 10:00 PM in Singapore (UTC+8).
Things worth knowing
- Daylight saving start and end dates differ between countries, so the gap between two cities changes several times a year — the US and EU switch on different weekends.
- Some zones are offset by 30 or 45 minutes: India is UTC+5:30 and Nepal UTC+5:45.
- UTC does not observe daylight saving, which is why it is the right basis for logs, APIs and stored timestamps.
Frequently asked questions
Does it handle daylight saving?
Yes — it uses your browser's time-zone data, which accounts for current DST rules.
Why does it sometimes say next day?
Large zone differences can push the converted time past midnight, so it flags the day change.
What is the difference between UTC and GMT?
In practice they align, but UTC is the precise atomic-clock standard while GMT is a timezone that observes British Summer Time.
How should I schedule a meeting across many zones?
Agree the time in UTC and let each participant convert, or use a calendar tool that stores the zone with the event rather than a fixed local time.
