How the CSV to JSON Converter works
Converts CSV data into a JSON array of objects, using the header row for keys — the usual first step when moving spreadsheet data into an API or script.
The first row becomes the field names. Each subsequent row becomes one object, pairing each header with the value in the matching column.
Worked example
name,age / Ada,36 becomes [{"name":"Ada","age":"36"}].
Things worth knowing
- Values arrive as strings. Numbers and booleans need converting afterwards if your consumer expects real types.
- Fields containing commas must be quoted in the source CSV, or the columns will misalign.
- Conversion runs locally, so exported customer or financial data never leaves your machine.
Frequently asked questions
Does it handle quoted values?
Yes — values wrapped in double quotes (including commas inside them) are parsed correctly.
Is my data uploaded?
No — conversion happens entirely in your browser.
What if my CSV has no header row?
Add one first, or the tool will consume your first data row as field names.
Why are my numbers quoted in the output?
CSV carries no type information, so everything is read as text. Cast the fields you need after conversion.
