Scientific Calculator

A full scientific calculator — trig, logs, powers, roots and constants.

How to use

  1. Tap numbers and operators to build an expression.
  2. Use sin, cos, tan, log, ln, √, ^, π and e for scientific math.
  3. Press = to evaluate, C to clear, ← to delete.

How the Scientific Calculator works

A full scientific calculator with trigonometric, logarithmic, exponential and power functions, plus constants — for the calculations a phone's basic calculator will not do.

Expressions are evaluated with standard operator precedence: parentheses, then exponents, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction.

sin cos tan · log ln · √ x^y · π e · ( )

Worked example

2 + 3 × 4 evaluates to 14, not 20, because multiplication binds tighter than addition.

Things worth knowing

Frequently asked questions

What functions are supported?

Trigonometry (sin, cos, tan), logarithms (log base 10 and ln), powers (^), square root and the constants π and e.

Are angles in radians or degrees?

Trig functions use radians, matching standard JavaScript math.

Why does my trigonometry give the wrong answer?

Almost certainly a degrees-versus-radians mismatch. sin(90) in radians is about 0.894, not 1.

What is the order of operations?

Parentheses, exponents, multiplication and division left to right, then addition and subtraction left to right.
