Remove Line Breaks
Strip line breaks and extra spaces to flatten text into clean paragraphs.
How to use
- Paste text that has line breaks.
- Choose whether to replace breaks with a space.
- Copy the cleaned single-line text.
How the Remove Line Breaks works
Strips line breaks from text so it becomes a single continuous block — for cleaning up copy pasted out of PDFs, emails and terminal output.
Newline characters are removed or replaced with spaces. Optionally, paragraph breaks (blank lines) are preserved while breaks within a paragraph are removed.
Worked example
Text copied from a PDF with a break after every printed line becomes properly flowing paragraphs.
Things worth knowing
- PDFs store text line by line with hard breaks, which is why pasted PDF content wraps so badly.
- Windows uses CRLF for line endings, Unix and macOS use LF. Both are handled.
- Preserving paragraph breaks is usually what you want; removing every break merges the whole document into one block.
Frequently asked questions
Will it remove double spaces too?
Yes — runs of spaces and tabs are collapsed to a single space.
Is my text private?
Yes — it never leaves your browser.
Why does text from a PDF paste so badly?
PDFs have no concept of paragraphs — they position each visual line separately, so every line ends in a hard break.
